Nulab Inc., which develops project and task management tools such as “Backlog” under the brand message, “Bringing the joy of ‘I’m glad I worked with this team’ to the world.”
Starting with a consultation about exhibition participation in 2024, we have provided exhibition support multiple times since then. In 2025, Nulab Inc. held "Nulab Conference 2025," a large-scale conference after several years, as a place to deliver the value of "teamwork management," an idea proposed by Nulab to design a state where teams can continue to move forward.
In this article, we interviewed Ms. Oyakawa, who is in charge of event marketing, about how a partnership that began with exhibition support evolved into the success of a 500-person scale conference.

BEEATS: Thank you very much for your time today. Could you please start by introducing yourself?
Ms. Oyakawa (Business Growth Department, Nulab Inc. / hereinafter, Oyakawa): Thank you as well. My name is Oyakawa and I am in the Business Growth Department at Nulab Inc. I work in the marketing unit and am solely responsible for event marketing.

BEEATS: Our sales representative mentioned that we have been working together for about a year, but how did you first learn about BEEATS?
Oyakawa: The catalyst was my inquiry from the BEEATS website. I looked at the case studies posted on your homepage, and the fact that they were lovely was the deciding factor. Actually, I later found out that I had met someone from BEEATS at an event hosted by another company before making the inquiry, and I feel a mysterious connection.
BEEATS: I see. That is a story that makes one feel a connection. Could you tell us how you came to place orders with BEEATS after inquiring through the web?
Oyakawa: Since I became responsible for exhibitions, I had been searching for vendors who could become partners. Rather than selecting through a competition, I tried changing vendors for each exhibition to see how things went.
BEEATS: Why did you choose that method?
Oikawa: If chosen by competition, the focus inevitably becomes comparison of planning content. I realized that if you don't have the opportunity to actually work on a project and see the response speed and content, you can't really find a vendor you can rely on as a partner.
BEEATS: So you included BEEATS as a candidate among them. As you were comparing us with other vendors, was there any point where our response was different from the others?
Oyakawa: What made you different from other companies was your “attitude in the stage before the order was finalized.” When I received your first proposal, I mentioned my requests casually, and I was very impressed that you immediately provided multiple versions of a revised plan. I had never received that kind of response from other vendors before placing an order, so I was very happy to see your enthusiasm in understanding our requests and intentions so kindly.
Also, what I trust most about BEEATS is the “review” and “proposal for the next step” after the event ends. After a project is finished, you think together about concrete steps that lead to the future, saying things like, “We can improve this next time” or “If you make this kind of request, we can be even more helpful.” It is because of this attitude of looking ahead to the next success that I trust you as a partner.
BEEATS: We started by supporting your exhibition participation, and this time you entrusted us with the operation of a 500-person scale conference. Could you tell us about the circumstances behind hosting it?
Oikawa: For Nulab, it was a challenge as the first conference in several years, but the schedule was extremely tight. Talk began at the end of February, and the venue was decided at the end of March. From there until the actual event in October, I had a nervous start not knowing what and how much should be outsourced.
BEEATS: It was a very limited preparation period. Could you tell us the background behind why you consulted BEEATS for this conference as well?
Oikawa: Yes. I consulted BEEATS, thinking that as someone we could trust after exhibition support, I could count on them. Originally, we planned to request only graphics and construction-related work, similar to exhibitions, but the scope of the request expanded steadily as preparations progressed.
BEEATS: So, your roles expanded as the preparations progressed.
Oyakawa: Well, yes. Demands were increasing one after another like a Sagrada Familia, with “we need this” and “we need that.” In the end, I entrusted you not only with the design and construction, but also with staff arrangements and operation management on the day, and you supported us as a “partner” to make the project a success.

BEEATS: Could you tell us the reasons why you continue to place orders with BEEATS, and your evaluation of BEEATS during event preparations?
Oyakawa: BEEATS always does their best with the same perspective and purpose as Nulab. In particular, led by Esaki-san, you always provided proposals with a “plus alpha” beyond our requests, so there were times I learned things myself, thinking, “I hadn't considered that perspective.”
BEEATS: We are very honored to hear you say that. How did the team perform, given that it was a large-scale event?
Oyakawa: For the success of the conference, the BEEATS team didn’t just focus on their own roles; they were always there to follow up by stepping into each other’s areas. This time, I truly believe we became one team with everyone at BEEATS and were able to realize “Teamwork Management.”
BEEATS: May I ask about Nulab’s future prospects?
Oyakawa: Yes. We believe it is important that the concept of “Teamwork Management” is not just conveyed through tools, but understood as an experience. Therefore, in addition to providing it through our products, we want to utilize various channels such as events to deliver this value from multiple angles.
Most recently, we have been expanding features such as “AI Backlog Sweeper,” which prevents omissions after meetings, and “Backlog AI Assistant,” which supports team operations through dialogue.

BEEATS: Thank you very much for your time today. We look forward to working with you in the future.
Oyakawa: Thank you very much for today. I look forward to working with you again.
Thank you for reading until the end.
