BEEATS (Representative Director: Matahiro Kashiwagi, Chuo-ku, Osaka, hereinafter "BEEATS"), which co-creates brand experiences in the retail sector, has jointly released "Seoul Latest Store Design Trends 2026 Autumn/Winter Issue" with World Mode Holdings Co., Ltd. (Representative Director: Shinsuke Kafuku, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, hereinafter "WMH"), which provides various solutions specialized for the fashion and beauty industry, such as human resources, digital marketing, and store operation agency services.
Seoul, Korea, is attracting attention as a hub for trends. In particular, in the Seongsu area, large-scale pop-up stores are being held one after another, and many people are visiting. In addition, especially among young women, there is a trend of getting information on SNS, visiting, and then sharing the experience on SNS again.
In this report, based on these cases of pop-up stores and flagship stores in Seoul, we will unravel the strategy and structure of how to design not only the spatial production but also the subsequent "actions" and "diffusion" of visitors.
BEEATS and WMH concluded a business alliance in 2024 with the goal of providing global-standard spatial design to the Japanese fashion and beauty industry and creating new store experiences by combining the strengths of both companies.
As part of that initiative, both companies jointly issue reports summarizing the latest trends in store design and exhibitions in overseas cities, as well as the knowledge gained from them.
In recent years, Seoul, Korea, has been attracting attention in Japan as a hub for trends, and interest in opening stores and promotion development locally is increasing. On the other hand, the Korean market sees rapid changes in trends, and it is a challenge to continuously grasp local store design and consumer behavior.
BEEATS has been accumulating achievements in the retail sector spanning Japan and Korea, such as supporting the Korean pop-up store opening of the apparel brand "MOUSSY" and the Japan-held pop-up organized by "Leferi," the largest beauty MCN in Korea.
Against this background, this report researches trends in Seoul stores and pop-ups, mainly in the Seongsu area. We focused not only on spatial design but also on participatory flow lines that link photography, SNS posting, and stamp rallies, as well as the mechanisms by which information is diffused.
We have summarized contents that will be hints for considering in-store measures and brand experiences in Japan, as well as the entry of Japanese companies into the Korean market.
This report is a trend report that unravels the strategy and structure of creating queues and SNS diffusion from case studies of pop-up stores and flagship stores, focusing on the Seongsu area, which is attracting attention as a culture hub in Seoul, Korea.
We will also delve into marketing strategies, such as participatory flow lines that link "photography/SNS posting" and "stamp rallies," and the mechanisms by which information is diffused, regarding how to design not only the spatial production but also the subsequent "actions" and "diffusion" of visitors.
[Three Highlights of the Report]
1. From a place to sell things to a "space for experience and diffusion"
In Seoul today, stores are strengthening their role not only as places to sell products, but as places to experience brands and share those experiences on SNS. In this report, we introduce mechanisms that design from the trigger of a visit to experience and diffusion as a single flow, combining free distribution items, photography, SNS posting, and stamp rallies.
2. "Central Figure (shift of the leading role)" that attracts people
In stores and pop-ups that attract attention, you can see performances that place impressive objects or motifs in the center of the space to convey the brand's worldview at a glance. From examples such as the flagship store of "Margesherwood" and "Hearts2Hearts," we unravel the spatial creation that attracts the eyes of visitors and connects them to photography and SNS posting.
3. "Composed Identity (precision of combination)" that combines historical spaces with modern design
In Seongsu, store creation that utilizes existing buildings such as old factory sites has been widely seen. In this report, we introduce methods to create brand spaces unique to that location by combining modern design while utilizing the materials and structures of the buildings and the characteristics of the town.
