Unraveling the thinking and strategy supporting New York's commercial spaces —
Explaining the latest store design trends for Spring/Summer 2026!

Today, commercial spaces are transforming from mere "places to sell things" into "stages where brand philosophies are experienced, communities intersect, and stories are born." Furthermore, importance is placed on leaving "blank spaces" that change over time as they are used, rather than completing the space from the beginning.

This time, we conducted interviews with designers and creators who are shaping the current state of New York. We unraveled the thinking and processes behind creating cutting-edge stores.

Together with designers based in New York, Matuhiro Kashiwagi, President and CEO of BEEATS CO.,LTD., and Mr. Kafuku, President and CEO of World Mode Holdings Co., Ltd., analyze local trends and present this "Spring/Summer 2026" report summarizing the latest trends in store design.

Points of this report

  • Explaining 3 notable trend themes (Cult Status / Wellness Aesthetic / Lived-In Spaces)
  • Analysis of 5 cutting-edge stores in New York (apparel, wellness, food and beverage, etc.)
  • Conducted exclusive interviews with 5 architects and designers (covering the behind-the-scenes and processes of creating spaces that attract people)

In present-day New York, the focus is shifting from "how to present" to "how to be," encompassing spatial expression that transcends the boundaries of interior design, and meticulous design and construction down to the smallest detail. We hope you will use this as a hint to consider the latest trends and brand models in New York that will shape the future of commercial spaces.
