Appeal design as a host's special exhibition

-Proposal Background-

Until now, BEEATS CO.,LTD. has been in charge of producing exhibitor booths at the Supermarket Trade Show. This time, we were newly commissioned for the planning, design, and construction of a special exhibition, "SMTS 60 Years of History and Future Exhibition," by the organizer, the National Supermarket Association.
This exhibition is a commemorative project aimed at reflecting on the journey from the first session (1964 "Self-Service Fair") to the present, as well as conveying the future prospects of SMTS to visitors.

- Challenge -

  • Need to convey at a glance that it is the 60th commemorative exhibition
  • Organizing information to convey a long history in an easy-to-understand manner
  • Introduction design that naturally draws in visitors from the venue circulation path
  • Well-balanced appeal of both "history" and "future"

Based on this, we aimed for a layout configuration that creates a high-visibility eye-catcher and deepens understanding while circulating.

Spatial design that balances the symbolization of the 60th session and circulation flow

-Points of booth design-

  • Booth design with high visibility using a red and white two-tone color scheme
  • Created a strong eye-catcher by placing a "60th monument" in the center of the front
  • Circulation-style layout navigating chronology walls by era
  • Broadcasting historical videos utilizing LED visions
  • Physical display of historical items such as registers and weighing scales
  • Construction plan conscious of visibility from the 2nd-floor circulation path
  • Integrated production design including video production

We emphasized visibility from the main aisles within the venue and inter-hall circulation, creating a design that conveys even from a distance that this is the "60th Commemorative Exhibition." Inside the booth, chronology walls by era were arranged in a series. The configuration allows visitors to experience the history of SMTS while naturally circulating.

Video direction symbolizing the 60th session

In this project, we produced the following two videos.

  • History video looking back on the 60 sessions of SMTS
  • Concept video depicting future prospects, looking ahead to the two sessions in 2027

By combining video production with the display of actual historical materials, we realized an experiential special exhibition space that goes beyond a mere chronology.

Chronology wall recording the 60-session history of SMTS
Physical display of weighing scales and registers that convey history

Realized a commemorative exhibition that combines historical understanding and future appeal

-Results-

As the 60th commemorative exhibition, we achieved high visibility and circulation on the venue flow path. The visibility from the main aisles and the symbolic nature of the "60th" monument encouraged many visitors to stop by.
Furthermore, by designing two videos—a history video and a future concept video—in integration with the space, we realized a special exhibition that simultaneously conveys "reflection" and "expectations for what's next."
